FEBRUARY 2020 THE WOLVERINE 51   FOOTBALL RECRUITING 7. ANDRE SELDON CB • 5-9, 154 Belleville, Mich. • Belleville H.S. National Rankings: No. 20 CB and No. 232 overall Michigan made it a point to keep top talent at home and l a n d e d a R i v a l s 2 5 0 prospect in Seldon. The highest-rated in-state signee, he committed in June 2018 and remained firmly locked in with the Wolverines for a year and a half. Seldon lacks ideal height, but he has elite ball skills and plays with a ton of swagger. The four-star prospect was a standout at the Under Armour All- America Game and earned praise from NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. 8. CORNELL WHEELER LB • 6-0, 229 West Bloomfield, Mich. • West Bloomfield H.S. National Rankings: No. 17 ILB and No. 245 overall A Rivals250 prospect, Wheeler is a natural inside line- backer that loves to lay the wood. He is under- sized, but he fills gaps quickly and is a tackling machine. He was named the Detroit Metro De- fensive Player of the Year under the guidance of West Bloomfield coach and former Wolverine Ron Bellamy. Wheeler committed to Michigan in September 2018 over offers from Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri and others. He is the No. 5-ranked recruit in the state of Michigan and was a big win for the Wolverines in their own backyard. 9. MAKARI PAIGE S • 6-3, 185 West Bloomfield, Mich. • West Bloomfield H.S. National Ranking: No. 21 S A prep teammate of Wheeler, Paige is a tall, rangy safety with unlimited upside. There were question marks about his physi- cality going into his senior season, but he checked the boxes in that area. His height and length will allow him to make an impact at free safety early on. Paige is one of the most heralded in-state prospects and committed to Michigan over offers from Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State and several other major pro- grams following a summer visit. 10. BRAIDEN MCGREGOR DL • 6-0, 190 Port Huron, Mich. • Northern H.S. National Ranking: No. 17 SDE McGregor was off to a monster start to his senior campaign, but suffered a serious leg injury and missed the majority of his final high school season. Prior to the injury, he was se- lected to play in the Un- der Armour All-America Game. McGregor is an early enrollee, but will likely need to spend his fresh- man season in rehab. The four-star prospect can certainly make an im- pact at defensive end or tackle down the line. With his personality, expect him to be a leader for the Wolverines. 11. JORDAN MORANT S • 6-0, 190 Oradell, N.J. • Bergen Catholic H.S. National Ranking: No. 23 S Like the aforementioned Mc- Gregor, Morant was off to a strong start in his senior year before hav- ing it cut short due to injury. Morant was for- mally diagnosed with a broken foot and is cur- rently rehabbing. He is on schedule to return to action in the summer. Before the injury, Morant was considered one of the top defen- sive backs in the country and was selected to the All-American Bowl. He is a versatile playmaker in the secondary that can play some corner, but will likely stick at safety. 12. JEFFERY PERSI OT • 6-7, 265 San Juan Capistrano, Calif. • JSerra H.S. National Ranking: No. 33 OT The four-star prospect has one of the biggest ceilings in the class. He definitely needs to add some weight and will likely redshirt next year, but once he puts it all together, the towering recruit has a chance to be a premier left tackle for the Wolverines. Persi was an elite blocker for a JSerra team that played in one of the toughest high school leagues in the country. He was selected to represent the USA in the International Bowl. 13. WILLIAM MOHAN LB • 6-1, 190 Brooklyn, N.Y. • Erasmus Hall H.S. National Ranking: No. 19 OLB Michigan specifically went after Mohan to fill the Viper position, which utilizes a player with the ability to cover, play in the box, and simply roam around and make plays. He fits that athletic profile and led Erasmus Hall to the New York Public School League championship. Mohan does need to add some weight to his skinny frame, but he has plenty of speed and moves well from sideline to sideline. He will need a redshirt initially, but will have an opportunity to be a playmaker in a couple of years. 14. RJ MOTEN ATH • 6-0, 201 Delran, N.J. • Delran H.S. National Ranking: No. 32 ATH Moten isn't a prospect that gar- nered a ton of media at- tention throughout the process, but he takes care of business on the field. The versatile re- cruit played running back for his high school, but best projects as a safety with the ability to spin down at the next level. Moten recorded 61 tackles and two interceptions, and also racked up more than 400 yards with eight touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball. He was selected to play in the All-American Bowl. 15. REECE ATTEBERRY OT • 6-5, 290 Centennial, Colo. • Eaglecrest H.S. National Ranking: No. 55 OT The three-star prospect is listed as a tackle, but will likely move to guard or center at the next level. Atteberry is at his best as a run blocker when he can overpower defenders with his size and strength. He should exceed
