The Hoyas were the only opponent to tally three markers versus UVA, which permitted just 13 goals in 24 contests. 49.7 Points allowed on average by the Virginia men's basketball team through Jan. 23, which was the best mark in the country. The Cavaliers also ranked second in field goal percentage defense (35.8) and tied for 21st in three-point field goal percentage defense (28.5). Through Jan. 23, the Cavaliers were 9-0 when limiting opponents to fewer than 50 points and 4-0 when limiting opponents to fewer than 40 points. Under head coach Tony Bennett, UVA was 96-2 when limiting opponents to 50 or fewer and 27-0 when holding them below 40.
