or the third consecutive year, Penn
State has signed one of the top 15 re-
cruiting classes in the country and
one of the top three classes in the Big
Ten.
James Franklin and his staff didn't
add any verbal commitments in the
weeks that followed the December
signing period, but when Rivals.com
updated its team rankings in mid-Janu-
ary, the Nittany Lions' 27-member
class was rated third in the conference
behind Ohio State and Michigan and
12th in the country. They went on to
finish in 14th place nationally following
the traditional signing day in early Feb-
ruary.
Penn State's two previous recruiting
classes were also highly rated. Rivals
ranked the Lions' Class of 2018 ;=h in
the nation and second in the Big Ten,
while last year's class was 11th nationally
and second in the conference.
Of the 27 players in Penn State's Class
of 2020, 13 received four-star ratings,
while the remaining 14 players were
awarded three stars.
In my opinion, Penn State recruited
the Big Ten's top class at two position
groups: linebacker and tight end. Also, I
believe the Nittany Lions de;nitely
ranked among the league's top three
teams at two other position groups –
wide receiver and running back – and
