52 THE WOLVERINE APRIL 2020 such a big offensive lineman. He shows solid overall mobility, moving well lat- erally to take care of reach blocks and even showing some ability when asked to pull. While he moves better than you would expect, Onwenu is going to make his money on his power. He is basically immovable up front and has a wide base that makes him extremely difficult to get around. Onwenu is also incredibly powerful at the point of at- tack, using his powerful lower body and strong hands to clear out lanes in the run game. He also understands le- verage well, consistently showing good pad level. In pass protection, Onwenu uses his length well and anchors at an extremely high level. Speed on the in- side can give him problems at times, but his wide base makes him a difficult player to go around no matter the situa- tion." — NFLMocks.com's Dan Schmelzer • "Powerful and wide, Onwenu's natural play strength is somewhat offset by his below-average athletic ability. With better hand placement and attention to footwork, he can take a step forward as a drive blocker with the ability to move bodies around, but he'll be a scheme-specific prospect who could struggle against quick, up- field players and sub-package rush- ers. He has backup guard ability and potential as a day-three pick." — NFL. com's Lance Zierlein Draft Projections/Ranks • No. 166 — Philadelphia Eagles (Drafttek.com on March 4) • No. 15 offensive guard in the draft (WalterFootball.com's Charlie Camp- bell on Feb. 8) • No. 220 overall prospect and the 43rd-best offensive lineman (CBS Sports) QB SHEA PATTERSON Combine Results/Ranks Height: 6-1 Weight: 212 Hand size: 9 3 ⁄8 Arm length: 30 1 ⁄2 40-yard dash: 4.71 seconds (sixth out of 13) Bench press: DNP Vertical jump: 31 inches (tied for seventh out of 13) Broad jump: 116 inches (seventh out of 13) 3-cone drill: 7.14 seconds (tied for fourth out of 12) 20-yard shuttle: 4.5 seconds (sixth out of 12) What They're Saying • He has the ability to escape and the athletic capabilities, and can throw on the move. He's very athletic but locks in on his first read and forces the ball. Patterson doesn't have a huge arm, but his hope is his athletic ability could make a roster and help a team out of a game. I don't view him as a potential starter." — NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah • "There were just not enough big plays in big spots. It'll be interesting to see who succeeds him at the posi- tion. We wish Patterson all the best here [at the combine], and it's been fun watching him the past few years." — NFL Network's Rich Eisen • "Patterson's field vision and com- posure need a lot of work, as he often gets flustered when his first read is covered. Patterson has a skill set with a quality arm and mobility, but he looks like a third-day prospect at best who should be a third-string developmen- tal backup to see if he can improve enough to be considered a backup. He has a long way to go and that could be seen in Mobile [in January], where he really struggled at the Senior Bowl." — WalterFootball.com's Charlie Campbell Draft Projections/Ranks • No. 254 — Denver Broncos (Draft- tek.com on March 4) • 15th-best quarterback (Walter- Football.com's Charlie Campbell on March 5) • No. 306 overall prospect in the draft and the 17th-best quarterback (CBS Sports) WR DONOVAN PEOPLES-JONES Combine Results/Ranks Height: 6-2 Weight: 212 Hand size: 10 1 ⁄8 Arm length: 33 1 ⁄2 40-yard dash: 4.48 seconds (tied for 18th out of 45) Bench press: DNP Vertical jump: 44.5 inches (first out of 46) Broad jump: 139 inches (first out of 43) 3-cone drill: DNP 20-yard shuttle: DNP What They're Saying • "This guy is an athlete, but is an enigma in terms of production." — NFL Network analyst Charles Davis • "I have a fourth/fifth-round grade on Peoples-Jones. [Fellow ESPN analyst] Todd [McShay] is a little higher on him than I am. I saw some inconsistencies with him. I want to see him become more of a power forward and take advantage of that size advantage he has, and to play more effectively and consistently than he did at Michigan." — ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. Draft Projections/Ranks • No. 127 — New Orleans Saints (Drafttek.com on March 4) • No. 71 prospect in the draft (San Diego Union-Tribune writer Eddie Brown on March 9) • No. 88 overall prospect and the 15th-best receiver (CBS Sports) • No. 88 player in the draft (Sport- ing News' Vinnie Iyer) • 23rd-best receiver (WalterFootball. com's Charlie Campbell on March 7) OL CESAR RUIZ Combine Results/Ranks Height: 6-3 Weight: 307 Hand size: 11 Arm length: 33 1 ⁄8 40-yard dash: 5.08 seconds (tied for 10th out of 40) Bench press: 28 reps (tied for sixth out of 39) Vertical jump: 33 inches (tied for fifth out of 36) Broad jump: 113 inches (tied for sixth out of 35) 3-cone drill: 7.91 seconds (13th out of 25) 20-yard shuttle: 4.64 seconds (fourth out of 26) Donovan Peoples-Jones' 44.5-inch vertical jump tied for the third-best mark recorded at the NFL Combine since 2006.
