Taya Reimer Named McDonald's Player of Year
Incoming Notre Dame recruit Taya Reimer was honored this spring with the Morgan Wootten McDonald's Player of the Year Award, a distinction achieved last year by Connecticut's Breanna Stewart, the
Most Outstanding Player in this year's NCAA Tournament.
Reimer's father, former NBA player Ben Davis, was a 1991 McDonald's All-American, making them the
first father-daughter tandem to achieve the distinction. The 6-2 Reimer averaged 21.1 points and 8.0
rebounds at Hamilton (Ind.) Southeast during her senior year.
Joining Reimer on the 24-member McDonald's All-America team was future Irish teammate and point
guard Lindsay Allen from St. John's College in Washington, D.C. As a senior she led the 27-1 Cadets to the
Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title while averaging 16.0 points, 8.0 assists, 6.5 rebounds and
2.5 steals per game and shooting 82 percent from the foul line.
Notre Dame's four-member recruiting class is rounded out with 6-3 Kristina Nelson (Buford, Ga.) and
6-4 center Diamond Thompson (Wheaton, Ill.) Nelson is the No. 39-ranked player on ESPN's HoopGurlz
Top 100 (Reimer is fourth and Allen No. 25).
