In 1983, the U.S. Soccer Federation, in coordination with the NASL, cre- ated Team America, essentially the na- tional team, as a league franchise. Canter played with Team America for a season before returning to the Strikers, who then traded him to the New York Cosmos. With the Cosmos, Canter was an honorable mention NASL All-Star choice in 1985. Canter's stint with Team America also made him an integral part of the na- tional team's preparation for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. However, he was injured prior to the Games and was replaced on the Olympic roster. • Former Oregon State assistant Clint Long joined head coach Je6 Cook's sta6 in March and will oversee the goalkeepers at Penn State. Long was on the Beavers' sta6 during the 2018 and 2019 seasons in which the team 5nished with back-to-back win- ning records for the 5rst time since 2002-03. A 2014 graduate of Cal State Stanis- laus, Long managed all aspects of goalkeeping at Oregon State and helped the defensive unit by planning and executing training curriculum. The Beavers posted four shutouts dur- ing the 2018 season with a 1.12 goals against average. The defense had 5ve shutouts and a 1.14 goals against aver- age in 2019. Long also assisted in the develop- ment of three 5rst-team Pac-12 All- Conference players in 2019, the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2018, and two 2018 MLS SuperDra7 picks. ■ CLARIFICATION The March 13 edition of Blue White Il- lustrated included a photo of Pete Gi7opoulos's game-clinching intercep- tion in the 1987 Fiesta Bowl. The photo was provided to BWI by the Penn State All-Sports Museum but was used cour- tesy of the photographer, Maynard Diehl. His name was missing in the original citation.
