12 THE WOLVERINE MAY 2020   INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Getting To Know Softball Freshman Infielder Julia Jimenez Softball freshman infielder Julia Jimenez was off to an outstanding start to her collegiate career in 2020, after arriving in Ann Arbor from Fontana, Calif., last summer. Her 12 runs scored led the club be- fore the season was canceled in March due to the coronavirus, while her 20 hits and seven doubles each checked in second, and her seven runs batted in deadlocked for third. In addition, Jimenez was one of only four players on U-M's roster to have earned the starting nod in all 23 of Michigan's games (14 at second base and nine at shortstop). Here are a few other interesting facts you may not have known about her: Nickname: "Everyone calls me JuJu. I was on a family friend's soccer team when I was 4 years old and he came up with the name JuJu Bug back then. It has just kind of stuck ever since." Michigan Tops Penn State To Win 2019-20 Big Ten All-Sports Championship Michigan won The Wolverine's Big Ten All-Sports Championship in 2019-20 by a wide margin, edging out second-place Penn State by 20.5 points. Last year, the Wolverines won the award by 22.5 points over Ohio State, which finished third this year. U-M won the regular-season Big Ten title in women's gymnastics and the tournament title in men's swimming and diving. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic canceling spring sports' seasons before many got into conference action, they were not included in the results. Additionally, some winter seasons were cut short, so we compiled stand- ings based on what was done, although some did not get to complete their tournament championships (or even the regular season in the case of both gymnastics squads, though the women had finished their Big Ten slate). U-M had the most points in both men's and women's sports, with Penn State in second for men's and Ohio State second in women's. — Clayton Sayfie 2019-20 BIG TEN ALL-SPORTS STANDINGS OVERALL RESULTS School Men Women Total Regular-Season Tournament Titles Titles Michigan 68 79 147 1 1 Penn State 64.5 62 126.5 1 1 Ohio State 62 64 126 1 1 Wisconsin 60 58 118 2.5 1 Indiana 54.5 51 105.5 1 2 Iowa 52 52.5 104.5 1.5 2 Minnesota 48 55 103 0 0 Michigan State 37.5 44.5 82 0.5 1 Nebraska 37.5 44 81.5 0 0 Purdue 37.5 40 77.5 0 0 Illinois 41.5 32.5 74 0 0 Maryland 22 43.5 65.5 1.5 1 Northwestern 20 42.5 62.5 0 0 Rutgers 19 33.5 52.5 0 0 Note: Schools were given credit for 0.5 titles when they shared a regular-season or tournament championship. Men's gymnastics did not finish its conference slate, so did not get credit for a regular-season title despite being in first place when the campaign ended.
