MEN'S LACROSSE Three-time All- American Grant Ament was the top pick in the Premier Lacrosse League Dra>, going to the Archers Lacrosse Club on May 13. Ament became the second Penn State player dra>ed into the PLL, which is entering its second season. Chris Sabia was picked 10th overall by the Chrome Lacrosse Club in 2019. Despite multiple obstacles, including a major injury that forced him to take a season o< and the cancellation of his ;nal season a>er seven games, Ament set Big Ten and Penn State records for most career points (284) and career as- sists (191). Those numbers were bol- stered by the greatest season in Penn State history, when Ament, as a junior, led the Lions to their ;rst Big Ten regu- lar-season and Big Ten tournament ti- tles. He was the team's oed into a professional lacrosse league this year. Defenseman Tommy Wright was a third-round selec- tion by the New York Lizards in the Major League Lacrosse Dra> on May 4. The PLL will hold a two-week tourna- ment in lieu of a full season this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. The PLL Championships Series will be a fan- less tournament that takes place from July 25-Aug. 9. ACADEMICS Six Penn State teams have earned an NCAA Public Recognition Award for posting elite scores in this year's Academic Progress Rate compila- tion. The six teams – women's cross country, women's fencing, men's golf, women's golf, men's hockey and women's track and ;eld – earned multi- year APR scores in the top 10 percent nationally for their respective sports through the 2018-19 academic year (data from 2015-16 through 2018-19). MEN'S VOLLEYBALL Former Penn State standout Jason Kepner was inducted into the 2020 class of the EIVA Hall of Fame, as announced by the league o=ce earlier this season. An outside hitter for the Nit- tany Lions from 1993-97, Kepner ranks in the school's top 15 in multiple individual statistical categories. His 1,249 kills rank 13th in PSU history and he's seventh in digs with 693 and 10th in aces with 88. Kepner was a freshman member of the 1994 national championship team and went on to win All-America accolades as a senior. He was also a three-time All- EIVA selection.
