OFFENSIVE LINEMEN TOMMY KRAEMER • OG 5th-Sr. • Cincinnati Ht.: 6-6 • Wt.: 317 • Started the first seven games at right guard in 2019, before suffering a season-ending knee injury at Michigan. • Did not allow a sack, while con- ceding just one QB hit and three hurries, on 202 pass-block snaps on the year. • Played in 12 games and started 10 in 2018. • Saw action in all 13 games and started nine con- tests at right tackle in 2017, and was a member of a unit that won the Joe Moore Award and paved the way for the explosive Notre Dame backfield. • Redshirted and was a member of the scout team in 2016. • Named the Gatorade Ohio Football Player of the Year as a senior at Elder High School. • Selected to USA Today's 2015 first-team All-Amer- ica squad and picked to the Associated Press Division I (large schools) All-State first team as a senior. • Listed as a five-star recruit, the top player in Ohio, and the No. 2 offensive tackle and No. 8 overall prospect in the nation by 247Sports. ANDREW KRISTOFIC • OT So. • Gibsonia, Pa. Ht.: 6-5• Wt.: 292 • Played in four games in 2019. • Paved the way for three incred- ible seasons of offensive output at Pine-Richland High School. Most notable was his junior season, when the offense averaged more than 480 yards and 48 points per game on the way to a state championship. • Played on both sides of the football in high school, racking up 66 tackles and nine sacks on defense in his junior and senior seasons. • Named to the 2017 and 2018 Pennsylvania Foot- ball Writers Class 6-A All-State first team and USA Today All-State first team. • Was a consensus four-star recruit, and was re- garded by 247Sports as the No. 1 talent in Penn- sylvania, and the No. 13 offensive tackle and No. 120 overall prospect nationally. JOSH LUGG • OT Sr. • Pittsburgh Ht.: 6-7 • Wt.: 318 • Saw action in all 13 games in 2019, and started the final five. • Finished the season among the top 25 FBS tackles (at least 400 total snaps played) with a PFF pass-block grade of 83.0. • Did not allow a sack on 263 pass blocks, while conceding just three QB hits. • Appeared in every game for Notre Dame in 2018, primarily on special teams. • Redshirted in 2017 and served on the scout team. • Named to the 2016 All-Pennsylvania first team by USA Today and selected to the Pennsylvania Football Writers' Class 6A All-State team. • Participated in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. • Regarded by Rivals as a four-star recruit, the No. 6 player in Pennsylvania, and the No. 22 offensive tackle and No. 236 overall prospect in the country. COLE MABRY • OT Jr. • Brentwood, Tenn. Ht.: 6-5 • Wt.: 279 • Played in one game in 2019. • Did not see game action in 2018, but served on the scout team. • Anchored a Brentwood High School offensive line that posted an average of 32.0 points and 159.7 rushing yards per game in 2017. • Named to the All-Tennessee first team by USA To- day, plus received Class 6A first-team All-State hon- ors from the Tennessee Sports Writers Association. • Listed as one of the top 12 players in the Volun- teer State by Murphy Fair's Tennessee High School Football magazine. • Ranked by Rivals as a three-star prospect, the No. 23 player in Tennessee and the No. 63 offen- sive tackle in the nation. JOHN OLMSTEAD • OG So. • North Brunswick, N.J. Ht.: 6-4½ • Wt.: 283 • Did not see the field during freshman year in 2019. • Enrolled at Notre Dame in the winter of 2018 and participated in spring drills with the Irish. • Named to 2017 and 2018 USA Today All-State first team for his work on the St. Joseph High School offensive line. Also was a 2017 and 2018 NJ.com All-State first team selection. • Ranked as a four-star prospect, the No. 3 player in New Jersey, and the No. 15 offensive tackle and No. 118 overall recruit in the country by Rivals. JARRETT PATTERSON • OT Jr. • Mission Viejo, Calif. Ht.: 6-4½ • Wt.: 300 • Started all 13 games at center and was named the team's Of- fensive Newcomer of the Year in 2019. • Ranked among the nation's top 20 centers per PFF with an offensive grade of 74.2. Posted a PFF pass-block grade of 75 or bet- ter in eight games, including a grade of 80 or better in three of the last four. • Did not allow a sack and just two QB hits on 854 offensive snaps played last season. • Appeared in three games in 2018. • Anchored an offensive line that led Mission Viejo High School to an average of 340.0 total yards and 39.0 points per game as a senior. • Selected to the 2017 All-California second team by USA Today and named to the All-California Interscholastic Federation Division I first team as a junior and senior. • Rated as a four-star recruit, the No. 32 prospect in California, and the No. 17 offensive tackle and No. 214 overall player in the country by 247Sports. HUNTER SPEARS • OG So. • Garland, Texas Ht.: 6-4 • Wt.: 304 • Was recruited as and spent his first year in South Bend as a de- fensive lineman • Played in three games in 2019 and recorded two tackles. • Made the transition to offensive guard during the spring. • Rebounded from a torn ACL by recording 58 tack- les, five sacks and a pick-six during his senior season at Sachse High School, but tore his ACL again in the ninth game. • Named to the 2018 Texas Region 10-6A All-Dis- trict first team. • Ranked by Rivals as a four-star talent, the No. 50 player in Texas and the No. 29 strong-side defen- sive end in the nation. NEWCOMERS TOSH BAKER • OT Fr. • Phoenix Ht.: 6-7 • Wt.: 283 • Helped lead Pinnacle High School to an 8-3 record and a spot in the Arizona Open Division playoffs in 2019. Pinnacle averaged 241.3 passing yards per game and totaled 27 passing scores, while also rushing for 1,840 yards and 29 touchdowns. • Pinnacle posted an 11-2 record and advanced to the state semifinals in 2018. Baker was a vital part of his team rushing for 2,141 yards and 26 touchdowns, while also compiling 3,960 passing yards and 42 scores. • Won the inaugural Randall McDaniel Award as the top offensive lineman in Arizona in 2019, and also earned a spot on the MaxPreps Arizona All- State first-team offense. • Tabbed as a first-team All-Arizona pick by USA Today in 2018. • Selected for the 2020 All-American Bowl, but did not play in the game due to a minor knee injury. Also was picked for 2020 Polynesian Bowl. • Rivals rated him as a four-star talent, the No. 4 player in Arizona, and the No. 13 offensive tackle and No. 136 overall prospect in the nation. MICHAEL CARMODY • OL Fr. • Mars, Pa. Ht.: 6-6 • Wt.: 292 • Paved the way for Mars Area High School to rush for 2,531 yards and 31 touchdowns in just 11 games in 2019. • Was a member of the 2019 Pittsburgh Tribune- Review's top 25 high school players and the 2019 PennLive All-State Pennsylvania first team. • Named to the Class 5A Pennsylvania Football Writers All-State Team and the USA Today All- State Pennsylvania squad in 2018. • Selected for the All-American Bowl and the Poly- nesian Bowl. • Also starred on the Mars Area basketball team and was named to the PIAA Class 5A All-State second team in 2018 • Listed by Rivals as a four-star talent, the No. 2 player in Pennsylvania, and the No. 22 offensive tackle and No. 230 overall recruit in the nation. 74 ✦ BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED 2020 FOOTBALL PREVIEW
