SEPTEMBER 2020 THE WOLVERINE 31 NOTABLE WEIGHT GAIN Redshirt junior defensive tackle D O N O VA N J E T E R a d d e d 2 8 pounds this offseason, rising to 318 pounds after playing last year at 290. A lack of size has been an issue at defensive tackle ever since Maurice Hurst Jr. graduated fol- lowing the 2017 campaign, making Jeter's weight gain all the more important. SIGNIFICANT WEIGHT LOSS Senior fullback Ben Mason gets the nod here, dropping down to 254 pounds after previously residing at 270. There is a clear explanation for this one, how- ever; he bulked up to play de- fensive tackle during the first half of 2019, but has since been moved back solely to the offensive side of the ball. At 6-5, 250, Ojabo will likely serve in the same role that pass-rushing specialist Josh Uche played as a defensive end/ linebacker tweener each of the last two years before being selected in the second round of the NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.
