Fifth- year senior Ian Book will attempt to become the first after starting all 13 during last year's 11-2 campaign. Book also started the final three games in 2018, so his current streak is 16 entering the season opener versus Duke Sept. 12. With the potential of an added non-conference game, ACC championship contest and two College Football Playoff outings, the maximum amount of consecutive starts Book could end up with is 30, a rare number at Notre Dame. The record under Kelly is 23 by DeShone Kizer: the final 11 in 2015 and all 12 in 2016 before turn- ing pro as a junior. Here are the Notre Dame quarterbacks with the top five consecutive starts streaks. Rk. Quarterback (Years) Consecutive Starts 1. Brady Quinn (2003-06) 46 2. Tom Clements (1972-74) 34 3. Jimmy Clausen (2007-09) 28 4. Joe Theismann (1968-70) 25 Tony Rice (1988-89) 25 CHARTING THE IRISH A COVID-19 UPDATE FOR ALL 10 OF NOTRE DAME'S 2020 OPPONENTS Duke, Sept. 12 — As of July 31, 25 Blue Devil student- athletes had tested positive and at least two football play- ers had opted out of the season. Wake Forest, Sept. 26 — The athletics department is not releasing COVID-19 testing information. Wide receiver Sage Surrat, considered the team's top returning playmaker, will sit out the season to prepare for the NFL Draft. Florida State, Oct. 10 — The program has not released any COVID-19 testing information. Louisville, Oct. 17 — On Aug. 11, Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield said the football program has had "around four" positive COVID-19 cases. Pittsburgh, Oct. 24 — The school has not released any COVID-19 testing numbers for student-athletes, but the Panthers' football program was forced to cancel practice Aug. 13 after several players exhibited symptoms associ- ated with the virus. Georgia Tech, Oct. 31 — According to a report from Aug. 11, a total of 11 Yellow Jackets student- athletes had tested positive. Clemson, Nov. 7 — After having 37 players test positive in the first month after returning to campus, the Tigers appear to have their safety protocols under control. According to The Athletic Aug. 21, the football program has produced one positive result since July 10. Boston College, Nov. 14 — As of Aug. 15, the program had one football player test positive. North Carolina, Nov. 27 — After shutting down practices in July due to 37 student-athletics, coaches and athletics staff members tested positive, it's unclear if any more student-athletes have yielded positive results. But all UNC athletic programs temporarily paused activities when the school pivoted to fully remote learning Aug. 17 after a roughly 140-person outbreak on campus. Per a report from the Associated Press, the Tar Heel football program resumed practice Aug. 24. Syracuse, Dec. 1 5 — Four times out of the first eight days of practice, some Syracuse football players chose to sit out of fall camp practice, claiming that the program was not testing for COVID-19 often enough. The players were being tested every other week during fall camp.
