NC State baseball players were ranked
among D1Baseball.com's top 150 prospects
for the 2021 MLB Draft: sophomore short-
stop Jose Torres checked in at No. 23,
while junior infielder/outfielder Tyler
McDonough was listed No. 47.
7
Preseason All-ACC selections on the
football team according to Pro Football
Focus (PFF). Redshirt senior offensive
guard Joe Sculthorpe and junior defen-
sive tackle Alim McNeill earned first-team honors.
Sophomore offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu received
a second-team nod, while junior nickel TYLER
BAKER-WILLIAMS, junior kicker Christopher Dunn
and redshirt junior punter Trenton Gill were placed
on the third team. Redshirt junior center Grant
Gibson also received an honorable mention.
16
Game hitting streak for Washington
Nationals shortstop TREA TURNER,
from Aug. 14-31, before it was
stopped in a loss to the Phillies
Sept. 1, a game in which he still
reached base via a walk. That means
Turner enjoyed a 23-game on-base streak,
before it also ended the following day. As of
Sept. 2, he leads the majors in batting average
(.358, .014 points higher than No. 2) and hits (49,
one more than anybody else).
Turner's 16-game hitting streak tied Jimmy
Brown in 1940 for the longest by a former
Wolfpack player in MLB history.
