TALKING IT OVER Ferguson gets some pointers from O'Brien during the Blue-White Game. The sophomore will battle incoming freshman Christian Hacke n April 20, Penn State wrapped up spring practice with the Blue-White Game, the last of its 15 practice sessions. Using a scoring system that awarded points for turnovers, three-andouts and other defensive and offensive accomplishments, the defense defeated the offense, 67-47, in the scrimmage. The game might have taken place in late April, but it was hard to tell at times what season it was inside Beaver Stadium. "It looked like a blizzard out there for a second. I was shocked," coach Bill O'Brien said. "And then the sun came out and it O was 70 degrees. Felt like I was on Cape Cod." It may have felt like Cape Cod, but Penn State's spring practice sessions were no day at the beach. The coaching staff had to evaluate its quarterback prospects, plug some holes on the offensive and defensive lines and keep everyone as healthy as possible given the NCAA's scholarship limitations, which are beginning to have a very noticeable effect on the team's depth. Despite the challenges, the coaches appear to have come away from spring practice feeling good about the team's direction. Here's a position-by-position look at wha the Nittany Lions accomplished.
