HEADED EAST The 6-foot-3 Harris is known for her versatility. She played point guard as a senior at Lorain Southview High, yet still led the team in scoring and rebounding. Penn State's 7-member class ranked among nation's best n 2011 Penn State coach Coquese Washington received verbal commitments from a pair of highly regarded recruits, but they changed their minds and went elsewhere. Their decisions gave Washington the opportunity to sign seven newcomers in 2012-13. It's the largest incoming class in Lady Lion basketball history. "With this class, we get size and skill at every position," Washington said in a news release. "The sky is the limit for this class, and they have high expectations for themselves." Of the seven recruits who signed in November, four have earned fourstar status from espnW Hoopgurlz. The class is ranked No. 14 nationally by Hoopgurlz. Alex Harris, a post player from Southview High in Lorain, Ohio, is the highest-ranked player on ESPN's list at No. 46 overall and No. 6 at her position. At 6-foot-3, she has the versatility to play any position on the court and is an active rebounder and dominating shot blocker. Power forward Peyton Whitted of North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Ga., is ranked No. 59 overall and 17th at her position by ESPN. She averaged 13.7 points and 7.6 rebounds on a team that finished 30-2 and second in the state championship. She was a double-figure scorer in 25 games. She is set to arrive on campus on June 21, in time to take part in the first two Lady Lion summer basketball camps. Harris is someone who will fit into the program wherever the coaches need her. She's not expecting to immediately gain playing time. "If they want me to redshirt," she said, "I have no problem with that." Not much chance of that happening to a player with her skills.
