people to understand how some people feel whenever they're supposed to be pro- tected but it kind of seems like the oppo- site is happening." Heading into his final season at Penn State, Wade said he believes his willing- ness to seek out different viewpoints is applicable to his position as one of the Nittany Lions' senior leaders. He resisted that kind of leader- ship role earlier in his career, but he's come to understand that growth, both athletic and personal, comes from being put in unfamiliar circumstances. "You can't grow when you're in your comfort zone," Wade said. "You grow the most when you're outside of your comfort zone. I can't get compla- cent. I can't get comfortable. I have to have the same mindset I had on day one in 2017 when I first came here." It's been nearly four years since he first arrived in University Park, and Wade is eager to make the most of his final season. One of the changes he's made has been to adopt a pescatarian diet. By eschewing some of his favorite foods, he's re- duced both his body fat percentage and his weight, dropping 11 pounds from a listed weight of 199 last year. It's all part of an effort to max out his college potential and showcase himself as a draft-worthy safety. "When you get to college and you de- vote this much time to it, you have to do it the absolute right way," Wade said. "You don't realize it at first, but the right way is good sleep, good eating habits, exercising, treating your body right. "I want to maximize this year. I want to maximize everything. I don't want to leave anything back at all. So in order for me to maximize it, I had to make some BIG HITTER Wade jarred the ball out of Justin Fields' hands last November at Ohio State.
