Before committing to Penn State, Staes and his family took a 22-hour round trip to State College to see the school for themselves. Although they weren't able to meet with the sta/ in person due to the NCAA's dead period, just seeing the com- munity made Staes feel comfortable with the decision. "I got to see the town, I saw the campus and I really liked the vibe and the feel," he said. "I already kind of knew I was going to Penn State before the visit, but the visit just showed me that there is no reason for me not to go."
