We're versatile with guys who can do stuff with the ball and make good decisions. I also think we'll be a better shooting team with [fifth-year senior transfer from Colum- bia] Mike [Smith] and [senior] Eli [Brooks], because they're two great guards who can really shoot the ball. I'm very excited for this team." — Michigan sophomore guard Franz Wagner, previewing the 2020-21 campaign on FOX college basketball reporter Andy Katz's podcast Sept. 28 "Both guys are really competitive and smart, and they want to play. That's very exciting. Put a talented guy out there and see how it goes. The leadership — we've had a lot of guys step up in leadership capacities, and Joe Milton has definitely done that. Cade is a little bit younger, but he's doing that as well. We really like what we're seeing." — Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, discussing his top two quarterbacks, redshirt sophomore Joe Milton and redshirt freshman Cade McNamara 5 Michigan hockey players were invited to the United States National Junior Team evalua- tion camp, the most of any Big Ten program. Sophomore forward JOHNNY BEECHER; freshman forwards Matty Beniers, Thomas Bordeleau and Brendan Brisson; and sopho- more defender Cam York were all among the 36 athletes selected to the camp, held Oct. 8-13 in Plymouth, Mich. U-M assistant Kris Mayotte will also serve as an assistant for the squad, which will compete in the 2021 Inter- national Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, held Dec. 25, 2020-Jan. 5, 2021, in Ed- monton, Alberta. PHOTO BY LON HORWEDEL 2 U-M wrestlers captured gold medals at the U.S. Senior National Cham- pionships Oct. 10-11 in Coralville, Iowa: sixth-year senior Logan Massa at 74 kg (163 pounds) and junior Mason Parris at 125 kg (275 pounds). Both were dominant — Massa went 6-0 and outscored foes 67-14, while Par- ris held a 49-12 scoring advantage with one pin en route to a 5-0 mark. It was a repeat title for Massa, who also claimed the senior-level na- tional championship in freestyle wrestling last December, while it was the first such crown for Parris, the 2019 world champion on the junior level. Two other Wolverines placed at the prestigious event — unseeded freshman Dylan Ragusin took second at 57 kg (125 pounds) and fifth- year senior Kanen Storr finished eighth at 65 kg (143 pounds). "I can run fast, and go up and get balls. They said they want to mix it up with me once I get to college — similar to Nico Collins, while also playing a little bit of slot. They also told me they'd like to put me in motion a lot and to be a versatile player. Being com- pared to Nico Collins is an awesome comparison." — East Lansing (Mich.) High three-star wide receiver and Michigan commit ANDREL ANTHONY in a Sept. 25 interview with TheWolverine. com, discussing how the U-M coaches plan on using him in college
