NOVEMBER 2020 THE WOLVERINE 5   FROM OUR READERS • Josh Gattis will show someone enough as offensive coordinator that he will be a head coach somewhere next year. Felix • [Redshirt sophomore cornerback] Vincent Gray will make people forget about Ambry Thomas. fdizzle69 • Michigan goes 8-1. That really shouldn't be bold, but given the gen- eral consensus about how young this team is, it seems to be very bold. The FliteCast • The Michigan-Ohio State game is competitive going into the fourth quarter. scheins • [Fifth-year senior] Chris Evans leads the team in rushing. BigTenDefender • [Redshirt freshman cornerback] DJ Turner will be as good as 2019 Vincent Gray. smkelly • Michigan loses to Minnesota be- cause Milton needs experience. By game two, Milton is better and we beat Sparty by seven in a far closer game than most people on this board expect. But the improvement with Milton continues and we win every game by larger margins going into the Ohio State game. That game goes into over- time, at which point my crystal ball re- fuses to work. Wichita Blue • Michigan finally beats OSU and fin- ishes 9-0. dsc72478 On a few former Michigan players standing out early on in the NFL sea- son … • Just took a look at the defensive stats from the Kansas City-New Eng- land game [Oct. 5], there were three sacks total by both teams — all three by former U-M players: [Kansas City defensive end] Taco Charlton, [Kansas City defensive end] Frank Clark and [New England defensive end] Chase Winovich. AardarkAlchemist • [New England Patriots rookie offen- sive lineman Michael] Onwenu is mov- ing bodies on that right side. Hank2623 • On a couple of plays, he was making plays at the second level. Big Mike is playing … big! Kaiser • He never got the credit deserved by many on The Fort. It's great to see Mike get the last laugh as he plays like an All-Star in his first year for the New England Patriots. VictorVal • Taco also seems to have found a home after those tough years in Dallas and Miami. detblue14 • Michigan does get guys ready to play in the NFL. k2kal3 • The list of former players in the NFL seems twice as long as it did five years ago. Kudos to Harbaugh and his coaches for getting so many kids to the next level. SFREGO • It's a huge list. Unfortunately, out- side of a small handful, depth players, injured reserve and practice squads are the prevailing themes. MA1Z3NB1UE After the first three weeks of the NFL season, Winovich ranked sec- ond among edge rushers in run stop win rate and sixth in pass rush win rate. Winovich, fellow U-M alum Brandon Graham, former NFL De- fensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack and two-time Pro Bowler Joey Bosa were the only players in the top 10 of each among defensive linemen at that point. Graham was tied for sixth in run stop win rate and tied for third in pass rush win rate … • I thought [ Winovich] would be good. I never thought he would be THIS Good. He's ahead of Joey Bosa, [former No. 1 overall pick] Myles Gar- rett and [three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year] J.J. Watt. BlueMonster • [Winovich] showed this kind of pro- duction at Michigan, too. He's talented and driven. It's good to see him doing well. Also, I hope Brandon Graham finally makes a Pro Bowl this year. League On former Michigan quarterback Brian Griese being added to the Monday Night Football booth … • Just my opinion but Steve Levy, Brian Griese and Louis Riddick are probably the best MNF crew in many years. I hope they last many years. Gri- ese has really perfected his craft. Brickster • It took way too long for Griese to get the recognition he deserves! Rid- dick and Griese are an outstanding tag team with Levy. The chemistry jumps out immediately. AthleticDriveOne • If someone beats Ohio, ND, Michi- gan State and wins a national cham- pionship for Michigan, as far as I'm concerned they can say anything they want or nothing at all on every broad- cast for the rest of my life and I'll still love them. mgobluea • It's obviously subjective, but I think he's one of the better announcers out there right now. Even ignoring the U-M ties, he's really knowledgeable and breaks the game down in a captivating and easy to understand manner. nickespitia Join The Conversation!
