ven with all the obstacles Penn
State's football program has had to
endure in the months since spring
practice was canceled back in mid-
March, James Franklin and his assistant
coaches had to be happy with what re-
portedly took place in the preseason
practice sessions that began in earnest
on Sept. 30.
Consensus All-American Micah Par-
sons might not have chosen to recon-
sider his decision to sit out the 2020
season, and running back Journey
Brown was sidelined by an undisclosed
health problem, but the Nittany Lions
still went into their opener against Indi-
ana with elite talent at linebacker and
tight end, and they had the No. 3-rated
quarterback in the Big Ten in Sean Clif-
ford and :ve returning o;ensive linemen
with starting experience.
And it didn't end there. Franklin came
out of preseason camp with possibly a
top-three defensive line featuring cor-
nerstone performers in tackle P.J.
Mustipher and ends Shaka Toney and
Jayson Oweh, all of whom have to be
considered potential NFL dra
