BWI How does Drew Shelton recruit other players? How do you build rela- tionships with other recruits? SHELTON I'm laid-back with that stu+. I hit up guys asking if they want to play video games or something like that, but I'm not trying to push them. Everyone deals with it di+erently. Some want to take their time, some want to get it over with. The last thing I want to do is keep bugging someone and they don't want that. Everything is relationship-driven, especially at Penn State, so I want to build a relationship with these guys, but I want to do it on their terms. I try to get to know the person *rst and then go from there. BWI If we're going to talk recruiting, I have to ask who you've been recruiting the hardest? Are there a couple guys you've really been pushing for and have become close with? SHELTON I would say that Tyler Booker is the guy I talk with the most. I was talking trash to him the other week about the Eagles game. He's a Steelers fan. That didn't work out too well for me. That back*red on me. Collin Sadler, Ty Chan, Gunner [Givens] and Zach Rice are a few other guys I've been getting to know. But Tyler is the guy I've built the best relationship with. He's a guy I really like a lot. Coach Trautwein has been telling me that if he comes here, we would probably end up being roommates because we're a lot alike. Obviously, he's a heck of a football player, which is what we want. BWI You guys have a shortened season this year. You're only playing a couple games and aren't eligible for the play- o+s, so what are your goals for this sea- son? Is there anything you're really trying to work on and improve at? Any- thing Phil Trautwein has mentioned for you to focus on? SHELTON Personally, I think I was a much better run blocker last year, by a pretty wide margin. So, for me, improv- ing my pass sets is a big goal, and I ex- pect to improve on that. I think that will show, too. But overall, I just want to be more dominant. I need to *nish o+ my blocks, all of that. BWI What are a couple things you love to do outside of football? SHELTON I usually play video games when I'm done working out and I'm to- tally free and just at home relaxing. I wouldn't consider myself a hardcore gamer, but I would say that's one thing I enjoy when I'm away from football and not with friends. I enjoy pickup basket- ball games with friends. We try to do that when we can. I'm a lineman, and like every lineman, I love to eat. I'm a sucker for ice cream. But I'm a pretty normal teenager. I wouldn't say there's too much that's unique about me. ■ NAME HT WT RATING HOME SCHOOL Donovan Edwards 5-11 193 ★★★★ West Bloomfield, Mich. West Bloomfield Deshun Murrell 5-11 185 Centreville, Ala.
