NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2020 ■ 13 TRACKING THE PACK PACK PERFORMERS Addy Burrow, Rifle In all four of the meets that NC State com- peted in this fall, the sophomore from William- son, Ga., led the Wolfpack in aggregate scor- ing, including a win in a dual meet with North Georgia in Raleigh Oct. 11, when she also led all competitors in both the smallbore and air rifle. She also had the top smallbore score at Navy Oct. 3. Burrow's season-high aggregate score during her freshman year was 1,162. She scored at least 10 points higher than that in every meet this year, with a personal best of 1,176. Trent Hidlay, Wrestling The redshirt sophomore took home a bronze medal at 86 kilograms from U.S. Senior Nationals Oct. 11. The native of Lew- istown, Pa., recorded a pair of technical falls before defeating former Virginia Tech four- time All-American David McFadden in the quarterfinals. Hidlay fell in the semis with a 2-1 loss to eventual gold medalist and two-time NCAA champion Gabe Dean, before picking up two more wins in the consolations, including a 7-4 victory over 2019 NCAA champion Drew Foster. Hidlay's older brother, NC State fifth-year senior Hayden, also notched a third-place finish at the event. Ian Shanklin, Men's Cross Country The senior from Greensboro, N.C., led NC State to a second-place finish at the ACC Cross Country Championships in Cary, N.C., Oct. 30 by crossing the finish as first runner- up himself. It is the third straight year that Shanklin earned All-ACC honors at the meet and fol- lows up a 2019 season where he also was named an All-American at the NCAA Championships. Shanklin's previous best finish in the league title race was seventh place as a sophomore. Hannah Steelman, Women's Cross Country Steelman decided to transfer from Wof- ford, where she was an All-American per- former, to NC State for a chance to compete at the highest level during her senior season. At the ACC Championships — which the women's team won Oct. 30 in Cary, N.C. — Steelman played a major role by coming in third place. While she was at Wofford, the Orono, Maine, native had been twice named the Southern Conference Cross Country Runner of the Year, and she also earned All-America honors at the NCAA Championships last fall.
