It features two top-100 signees with in-state additions mid- fielder Luke Hille from Cary and goalkeeper Lucas Hatsios from Charlotte. Canadian defender Kobe Franklin is a member of the national team that played in the most recent U17 World Cup, and South African midfielder Vusumzi Plamana is on his country's U20 National Team. Jade Parchment, Volleyball On Nov. 3, Parchment was NC State's first volleyball player since Julia Brown in 2017 to win ACC Player of the Week honors. The junior from Kensington, Md., had a strong fall season, which was abbre- viated to eight matches due to COVID-19. She led the Pack in kills (118) and kills per set (4.21). She is now in the top 10 all time in the rally-scoring era at NC State with 709 kills, and she finished the fall fourth in the ACC and 16th nation- ally in kills per set. Kyle Spencer, Tennis Spencer appears to building a bright future in Raleigh for his program. The head coach signed three touted recruits in November, including the state's top-ranked senior in Greens- boro's Braden Shick. The blue- chip prospect is considered the No. 9 player nationally by The Tennis Recruiting Network. Cary's Joe Wayand is ranked No. 3 in the state and No. 63 in the country, while Fons Van Sambeek is regarded as one of the premier young tennis play- ers from the Netherlands. Hunter Tapp, Swimming Tapp, a sophomore from Lou- isville, Ky., started the 2020-21 campaign in strong fashion by winning the 50-, 100- and 150-yard freestyle swims in a dual against UNC Nov. 7 in Chapel Hill, N.C. His perfor- mance earned him ACC Men's Swimmer of the Week honors. During his rookie season, Tapp was a key swimmer on the top relays for NC State, helping the Pack win the 400 free relay at the ACC Championships and earning All-America status as part of the 800 free relay.
