ND Sports Sophomore defender Barbara Sullivan earned a consensus spot on the 2013 All-America team. She is the youngest player in program history to be named an All-American. Freshman defender Stephanie Peragallo received a spot on the Synapse Sports All-Rookie team. That pair helped hold Notre Dame opponents to 8.7 goals per game. Softball (43-15, 19-3 Big East) Notre Dame came up one run short of a Big East title for the second year in a row. South Florida outlasted the Irish 1-0 in a 10-inning game to win the title on May 11. Junior pitcher Laura Winter gave up five hits and one run while throwing all 10 innings. The Irish earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament regional in Lexington, Ky., but lost their first two games to Virginia Tech (4-3) and Marshall (3-1). Track & Field Two-dozen Irish athletes — 14 women and 10 men — earned a trip to this year's NCAA East Preliminary in Greensboro, N.C. Junior Patrick Feeney, who finished fourth in the 400-meter race during the indoor season, may hold Notre Dame's best chance to continue on to the national championship. He is one of the 10 athletes that won All-America honors during the winter competing in the outdoor events for Notre Dame during the final week of May. Sophomore Jade Barber and junior Michelle Brown highlight a promising 4x400 relay team for the Notre Dame women. Women's Rowing The No. 11 Irish cruised to their 10th consecutive Big East title on the water in late May with another dominant performance at the conference regatta. The Irish won five of six grand finals to end their Big East affiliation on a high note. Junior Molly Bruggeman, sophomore Erin Boxberger, sophomore Ailish Sheehan and senior Stephanie O'Neill all won first-team all-conference honors. Notre Dame will co-host the Division I national championship in Indianapolis during the final weekend of May.
