www.BLUEANDGOLD.com JANUARY 2021 39 FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP RECRUITING NOTES • Notre Dame has 26 signees in its 2021 recruiting class, but there's still one recruit who is committed to the Fighting Irish but has not been an- nounced by the school as a signee. Metairie (La.) Rummel's Logan Diggs, Rivals' No. 13 player in Louisiana and No. 22 running back in the country, committed to Notre Dame over the summer, but an offer from in-state LSU a week before the first day of the early signing period gave him something to think about. At the end of the day, we expect Diggs to remain in Notre Dame's 2021 recruiting class, spurning the in-state Tigers. • Los Angeles Loyola's Ceyair Wright, the No. 5 cornerback and No. 102 overall prospect per Rivals, announced his decision Jan. 2 to stay close to home and play for USC. Notre Dame was a finalist for the four-star recruit, who took a self-guided tour of South Bend the weekend of Dec. 5, but the soon-to-be movie star (he'll star in "Space Jam 2") has understandably picked to be closer to Hollywood. • St. Louis John Burroughs School standout Tyson Ford, who Rivals ranks as the No. 5 strong-side defensive end and No. 64 overall recruit in the 2022 class, announced a top four of Georgia, Missouri, Notre Dame and Oklahoma ahead of his Jan. 18 decision date. Oklahoma is considered the favorite going into his announcement, but he has built a strong connection with defensive line coach Mike Elston. • Notre Dame is bringing Joshua Bryan in on scholarship as its kicker in the 2021 class, but Christopher Salerno of Encino (Calif.) Crespi announced his intentions to walk on the football team Dec. 23. He is the younger brother of current Irish walk-on and starting punt returner Matt Salerno. — Mike Singer Quarterback Tyler Buchner, 6-2, 210, La Mesa, Calif.
