That group includes the defensive back duo of Sean Paul and Dravious Wright from Vero Beach (Fla.) High to help finish out the 2013 class that Doeren largely inherited. 6 8 Players transferred out of NC State last season, a common occurrence as the transfer portal be- comes more prevalent in college football. They were (with their landing spots): • Cornerback Malik Dunlap (Texas Tech) • Safety Isaac Duffy-Webb (Albany) • Quarterback Ty Evans (Texas State) • Linebacker Calvin Hart Jr. (Illinois) • Quarterback Bailey Hockman (Middle Tennessee State) • Offensive lineman Zovon Lindsay (Coastal Carolina) • Defensive lineman Val Martin (Minnesota) • Defensive back Taiyon Palmer (Troy) 3 Brothers in three-star Nate Evans' family that played defensive back in college now that Evans has already enrolled. Evans is the youngest sibling. Levonta Taylor was a five-star prospect in the 2016 class who attended Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes High and signed with Florida State. He received a training camp invite as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Rams in 2020. Keontae Jenkins was a four-star, who like Evans also attended Virginia Beach (Va.) Cox High, and signed with TCU. He played in three games as a true freshman last fall. 2 Newcomers who are the sons of former NFL players. Four-star wide receiver Micah Crowell from East Forsyth High in Kernersville, N.C., is the son of former Detroit Lions wideout Germane Crow- ell, who had 184 receptions for 2,722 yards and 16 t ouchdowns during five seasons in the NFL. The 1998 second-round pick's best season came in his second year when he hauled in 81 passes for 1,338 yards and seven scores. In addition, Crowell's uncle Angelo was a five- year pro linebacker with the Buffalo Bills and made 271 tackles after being a third-round draft pick in 2003. Crowell's older brother Germane Crowell Jr. signed with his father and uncle's alma mater, Virginia, in the 2017 class but took a medical hardship. Younger brother Isaiah Crowell is a top NC State target in the 2022 class and a defensive back at East Forsyth. Three-star Jacksonville (Fla.) The Bolles School linebacker Caden Fordham's father, Todd Ford - ham, was a 10-year offensive lineman in the pros after being an undrafted free agent follow- ing his All-ACC senior season at Florida State in 1996. He played for Jacksonville, Pittsburgh and Carolina, and appeared in 144 career games with 44 starts. 11 4 4 2 1 1 1 7 States were represented in NC State's 2021 recruiting class (including the four transfers). North Carolina leads the way by producing 11 signees, followed by four from Florida and Georgia, two from Virginia, and one apiece from New Jersey, South Carolina and West Virginia. For head coach Dave Doeren, it is the first time he has brought in a native from West Virginia with the incom- ing transfer of Marshall defensive back Derrek Pitts from Dunbar. Since Doeren arrived at NC State in time to finish off the 2013 class, he has signed natives of 21 different states.
