Stats: 193 of 362 (53.3 percent) for 2,432 yards with 19 TD, 7 INT and 6.7 YPA. • Patrick Towles: (Kentucky to Boston College, 2016) Kentucky career: 22 starts over three seasons. Boston College career: Started all 13 games for a 7-6 team. Stats: 138 of 273 (50.5 percent) for 1,730 yards with 12 TD, 7 INT and 6.3 YPA. • Jake Rudock (Iowa to Michigan, 2015) Iowa career: 25 starts over two seasons. Michigan career: Started all 13 games for a 10-3 team that was 12th in the final AP rankings. Stats: 249 of 389 (64.0 percent) for 3,017 yards with 20 TD, 9 INT and 7.8 YPA. • Greyson Lambert: (Virginia to Georgia, 2015) Virginia career: Nine starts in 2014 for a 5-7 team. Georgia career: Started 12 games for a 10-3 team that was not ranked in the final AP poll. In 2016, he lost the job to five-star freshman Jacob Eason after one game. Stats: 169 of 268 (63.1 percent) for 2,015 yards with 12 TD, 2 INT and 7.5 YPA. WON JOB, THEN LOST IT (5) • K.J. Costello (Stanford to Missis- sippi State, 2020) Stanford career: 25 starts over three years, including all 13 games for 9-4 team in 2018 when he was a second- team All-Pac-12 selection. Mississippi State career: Benched in his third start and just two weeks after setting the SEC record for sin- gle-game passing yards. He later started two more games. Stats: 134 of 209 (64.1 percent) for 1,283 yards with 6 TD, 11 INT and 6.1 YPA. • Wilton Speight (Michigan to UCLA, 2018) Michigan career: 16 starts over two seasons, including 11 games for a 10-3 team in 2016 that finished ranked No. 10. UCLA career: Won the job, was in- jured in his first start and supplanted by freshman Dorian Thompson-Rob- inson. Started four more games later in season as an injury fill-in. UCLA was 3-9. Stats: 126 of 208 (60.6 per- cent) for 1,527 yards with 6 TD, 6 INT and 7.3 YPA. • Anu Solomon (Arizona to Bay- lor, 2017) Arizona career: 30 starts over three seasons, including all 14 games for a 10-4 team that ended the 2014 season ranked No. 19. Baylor career: Started the first two games and suffered a career-ending concussion. Stats: 24 of 55 (43.6 per- cent) for 399 yards with 4 TD, 2 INT and 7.3 YPA. • Brandon Harris (LSU to North Carolina, 2017) LSU career: 15 starts over three sea- sons, including all 12 games for a 9-3 team in 2015 that was No. 16 in the final AP poll. UNC career: Two starts, benched after season opener. UNC was 3-9. Stats: 35 of 71 (49.9 percent) for 346 yards with 1 TD, 8 INT and 4.9 YPA. • Everett Golson (Notre Dame to Florida State, 2015) Notre Dame career: 23 starts over two years, including 11 games in 2012 for a 12-1 team that reached the BCS National Championship Game. Florida State career: Won the job, suffered a concussion in late October and returned from it two weeks later, but was pulled in his first game back and did not start again. He made eight starts for 10-3 team that was ranked No. 15 at the end of the sea- son. Stats: 147 of 219 (67.9 percent) for 1,749 yards with 11 TD, 3 INT and 8.0 YPA. LOST PRESEASON COMPETITION (4) • Jake Bentley (South Carolina to Utah, 2020) South Carolina career: 32 starts in first three years, injured after one game in 2019. Utah career: Initially lost the job to redshirt sophomore Cam Rising, but started the final four games after Ris- ing was injured. Stats: 77 of 124 (62.1 percent) for 882 yards with 6 TD, 6 INT and 7.1 YPA. • Anthony Brown (Boston College to Oregon, 2020) Boston College career: 28 starts over three seasons, including all 12 games for 7-5 team in 2018. Oregon career: Lost the job to redshirt sophomore Tyler Shough, played two games. Stats: 15 of 23 (65.2 percent) for 164 yards with 2 TD, 0 INT and 7.1 YPA. • Alex Hornibrook (Wisconsin to Florida State, 2019) Wisconsin career: 32 starts over three years, including nine games in 2016 for the No. 9 team in the final AP poll and all 14 contests for a 13-1 team in 2017 that finished No. 7. Florida State career: Lost the job to junior James Blackman, but made three starts on 6-7 unit. Stats: 84 of 122 (68.9 percent) for 986 yards with 7 TD, 2 INT and 8.1 YPA. • Austin Appleby (Purdue to Flor- ida, 2016) Purdue career: 11 starts over two seasons. Florida career: Lost the job to red- shirt junior Luke Del Rio, still made seven starts for a 9-4 team that won the SEC East and was No. 15 in the final AP poll. Stats: 127 of 209 (60.7 percent) for 1,447 yards with 10 TD, 7 INT and 6.9 YPA. OPTED OUT (1) • Jamie Newman (Wake Forest to Georgia, 2021): Newman was the projected starter for the preseason No. 4 Bulldogs, but he opted out of the season three weeks before Geor- gia's opener. Wake Forest career: 16-game starter, honorable mention All-ACC in 2019. ✦ Former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson started eight games for Florida State in 2015, but didn't finish the season as the starter.
