www.BLUEANDGOLD.com APRIL 2021 45 FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP RECRUITING NOTES • There is growing optimism that the NCAA's recruiting dead period, which is currently set to run through May 31, will lift when the calendar turns to June. If so, then we'd expect modified recruiting visit rules, such as an "X" amount of recruits on campus at one time and/or only "X" amount of coaches able to interact with the prospect in person. The Notre Dame staff is beginning to schedule official visits with pros- pects in the 2022 class for this summer — working under the assumption that the dead period will end. • Notre Dame does not have a commitment at wide receiver yet, and the staff recently offered a pair of recruits who we could see end up in the Irish's class. Buffalo (N.Y.) Western Maritime three-star talent Addison Copeland III, who Rivals ranks as the No. 5 player in New York, received an offer from the Irish in February. Two hours after he received the news from wide receivers coach Del Alexander, he decommitted from Rutgers, a pledge he gave last September. "I've been watching them my whole life," Copeland said. "I know they're a staple in college football. Anyone who is a fan of football knows about Notre Dame. They produce a lot of NFL stars. I haven't looked too much into the academic standpoint, but I'll be doing that in the next few days — researching what they're strong in and how I could make a future there." Alexander also offered Bluefield (Va.) Graham wide receiver Xayvion Bradshaw, who has flown under the radar until the past couple of months. Virginia did not have a high school football season last fall, but Bradshaw — who is currently unranked by Rivals — is expected to have a strong spring season. He is the son of former New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw. — Mike Singer Three-star wide receiver Addison Copeland III decommitted from Rutgers two hours after he received an offer from Notre Dame.
