GOING ON THE OFFENSIVE
Penn State is in hot pursuit of these 10 offensive prospects in the Class of 2022
|
O
ne of the themes of Penn State's re-
cruiting e0orts the past few years is
that the team hasn't been able to
land the true blue-chip players that every
major school covets. In Pennsylvania
alone, several outstanding players have
gotten away – players such as
wide receiver Julian Fleming
in the Class of 2020 and Class
of 2021 prospects Nolan Rucci
and Derrick Davis Jr.
To be fair, Penn State has
done well in other states, like
Michigan this past year and Virginia in
previous years, and those successes have
helped make up the di0erence. But James
Franklin would be the /rst to tell you that
the roster could always use more play-
makers, especially those top-50 national
prospects that schools like
Alabama, Clemson and
Ohio State have been land-
ing with regularity of late.
Even though visits have
been on hold for a year now,
Franklin and his sta0
couldn't have asked for a better start to
the 2022 recruiting cycle. All seven of
Penn State's committed players hold
four-star ratings, and three rank in the
Rivals250. Five of those seven players are
expected to /t in on o0ense, while Mehki
Flowers could play either wide receiver or
safety.
This year's class was ranked seventh na-
tionally as of early March, but if it's going
to reach the levels of the 2018 class, which
/nished /1h, the Nittany Lion coaching
sta0 will have to land at least a few of the
