Postponed T H E M A I N E V E N T WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL WISCONSIN @ PENN STATE T I M E S T B A | M A R C H 2 6 - 2 7 | R E C H A L L | B T N The Nittany Lions would love to have a roaring Rec Hall crowd behind them when they take on the Badgers, who were 10-0 as of this writing and were ranked No. 1 in the AVCA coaches poll with 53 of 60 possible 4rst-place votes. But alas. The stands will be mostly empty when Penn State plays host to its biggest home matches of the season. Wisconsin went into the delayed spring campaign with 4ve starters back from a 2019 team that lost to Stanford in the NCAA championship match. Included in that list are four All-Americans: outside hitters Grace Loberg and Molly Haggerty, middle blocker Dana Rettke and setter Sydney Hilley. The 6-foot-8 Rettke was the Big Ten's Female Athlete of the Year for the 2019-20 academic year. Given their expe- rience, it was little suprise when the Badgers came charging out of the gate, dropping only two sets in their 4rst 10 matches. They had to pause team activities in late Feb- ruary due to positive COVID tests and missed a pair of matches against 45h-ranked Nebraska, as well as a trip to Iowa. But assuming they're back in action soon, their trip to PSU will be a big one. The Nittany Lions have had COVID problems, too. Their 4rst four matches were postponed, and when they began play in February, they were shorthanded. They still managed to sweep Illinois and Indiana, but in their 4rst test of the season against a ranked opponent, they were outlasted on consecutive nights by No. 5 Minnesota. There are more challenges ahead, though, including what may be the toughest of them all when the Badgers arrive in University Park. –M.H. SCORECARD
