That tied the mark for the second‑most qualifiers in a single season for the program (UVA sent a program‑record nine in 2013). Redshirt fourth‑year Louie Hayes earned All‑America accolades with an eighth‑place finish in the 133‑pound weight class, giving the Cavaliers at least one All‑America honoree for the third consecutive NCAA Championships. 9 Cavalier individuals and one relay team earned All‑ACC honors for the women's track and field squad during the ACC Indoor Championships Feb. 25‑27 in Clemson, S.C., the most ever for the program since the championship started in 1987. The UVA women finished third to record their best team result at the ACC event since 1995, when they also placed third. 15 Times through 19 games this season that Virginia baseball's pitching staff racked up at least 10 strikeouts. Fourth‑year left‑hander Andrew Abbott led the way with 43 strikeouts in his first five starts, the most of any ACC pitcher and tied for 13th nationally through March 22. 12 Strikeouts for first‑year MIKAYLA HOUGE in a 4‑2 triumph over Pitt Feb. 20. She earned her first career win in the process and the 12 whiffs stood as the most by a Virginia pitcher against an ACC opponent since Melanie Mitchell struck out 13 versus Boston College on March 30, 2013. April 4, 2014 — Left‑hander NATHAN KIRBY fired the fifth no‑hitter in school history to lead the UVA baseball squad to a 4‑0 victory at Pittsburgh. Kirby struck out 18 batters, one off the school and ACC single‑game record. "Nathan Kirby was really impressive today," Virginia head coach Brian O'Connor said. "Obviously you look at the stat line and he threw a no‑hitter, which is really special for him and our team. We made a lot of great plays behind him. The poise he showed tonight, the calmness and the presence he showed were truly impres‑ sive. I'm really proud of him. It's a great accomplishment for him and our team. "The velocity on his fastball was really overpowering. He had a great fastball with location, and he was working ahead in the count. He had that devastating curveball that he could throw with two strikes underneath those right‑handed hitters. It was just special."
