RED, WHITE & BOOM
The Notre Dame football program has
been hard at work this summer, preparing
for the 2021 season. On July 2, the Fighting
Irish kicked off Independence Day weekend
with a special workout that was inspired by
the Notre Dame Fire Department.
In addition to inspiration, the campus fire
squad provided the equipment for what
the Irish called its "Red, White and Boom"
workout. The Irish football players engaged
in several firefighter-training drills during
the workout.
The NDFD has served the university since
1879, evolving from volunteers responding
when the alarm sounded to a professional
department that responds to roughly 1,500
calls annually.
