On July 13, Wolfpack nation was introduced via social media to
Tuffy III, the latest live mascot for NC State athletics. He replaced Tuffy
II, who passed away in October.
Tuffy III is the nearly six-month-old son of Tuffy I. All three dogs are
Tamaskans, noted for their wolf-like appearance, which is what the
breed was designed to look like. Tuffy I made his debut for NC State in
2010, posing for a now-famous photo with quarterback Russell Wilson.
Fans who attended the open practice for NC State football on Aug.
28 were able to meet Tuffy in person. In exchange for a few treats, the
puppy would occasionally allow to have photos taken but was more
agreeable for some friendly pats on the head.
