Notre Dame sophomore cornerback Clarence Lewis picked off the pass … Sophomore running back Chris Tyree made it 21 straight points for the Irish when he punched in a one- yard touchdown three plays later. FOURTH QUARTER NOTRE DAME 38, FLORIDA STATE 38 Top Moment: Travis got hit and lost his helmet early in Florida State's sec- ond drive of the quarter. Milton replaced him and immediately tossed a 22-yard completion. He engineered a Florida state touchdown drive that made the score 38-35 with 5:36 left. Milton remained in the game and led another scoring drive that resulted in a game-tying field goal. The Seminoles had a third-and-six play from the Notre Dame 25 with 44 seconds left. A conver- sion would have given Florida State a few more chances to win. Milton threw an incomplete pass, and the Seminoles converted on a 43-yard field goal that tied the game at 38 with 40 seconds left. Feature Performer: After not seeing any game action the first three quarters, Milton led the Seminoles to 10 points while completing 5 of 7 throws for 48 yards. Stats: The Seminoles outgained the Irish 137-33 in total yards in the fourth quarter, with 81 of the yards coming on the ground.
