But that doesn't mean the same issues that nearly tripped the Irish up in the first four weeks and finally brought them down in Week 5 won't continue to plague them. Notre Dame can't run the ball be- hind its flummoxed offensive line. The defense resorted to its old ways of be- ing beaten by the big play. Cincinnati gained 15 or more yards on eight dif- ferent passing plays. That accounted for 237 of the Bearcats' 297 passing yards. "They made some big, explosive plays that we didn't defend," graduate stu- dent linebacker Drew White said. "We have to make those plays. I don't think it was anything that we weren't prepared for.
