6 ■ THE WOLFPACKER ■ WOLFPACK CLUB NEWS W h e re d i d yo u grow up? "I grew up outside of Wilson, N.C., in a little town called Stantonsburg." Where did you go to high school? "Bed- dingfield High School." What college did you graduate from? "I received my under- graduate at NC State and my master's in parks, recreation and tourism management here." What is your re- sponsibility at the Wolfpack Club? "My primary focus has been on our seating rights programs. We have them mainly for foot- ball, men's basketball, women's basketball and baseball. "I am also involved in parking assignments, online seating as- signments. It's mainly ticketing issues, cus- tomer service and trying to fix any prob- lems and issues." What did you do before joining the Wolfpack Club? "I worked on campus with athletics. I was the equipment guy for baseball, and men's and women's tennis. I did that for about six years. "After I came back for my master's, that was a job that was open. When I started off, it was an internship. They moved me full-time for 2003-04." How long have you been with the Wolfpack Club? "I have been with the Wolfpack Club since 2004. Prior to work- ing the equipment room, I had worked as an intern in the ticket office. "I had been in athletics and knew some of the people there. One day, when I was sitting around the equipment room, Bobby Purcell, who was our executive director, said they were looking for somebody. "He had seen me in the ticket office be- fore. He came over to baseball and asked me if I would be interested. I told him, 'Ab- solutely.' It was a real good opportunity." What is your favorite part of the job? "The best part has to be working with our donors. We have a passionate fan base. Serving them and seeing them enjoy their experience here at games and events, mak- ing sure they enjoy what they pay for and have a good time. "It's always good to be working with the donors." Family: "I have a 5½-year-old named Joshua who is in kin- dergarten. My wife, Joy, is in the healthcare field. We got married in 2014. "They're a blessing." What are your hob- bies? "We're involved in our church quite a bit, so we do a lot of church activities. Of course, with the little guy we do quite a bit of stuff with him. We like going to the local parks and stuff like that with him." Favorite TV show: "I don't watch a whole lot of current shows. I like to watch reruns of 'The Andy Griffith Show' and 'Sanford and Son.' I watch a lot of sports, too." Favorite movie: "I always watch 'Shaw- shank Redemption' when it's on TBS or TNT." Favorite musical artist: "I don't know if I have a favorite musical artist, but gospel music and Motown are my favorite genres." Favorite restaurant: "There aren't many I don't like. For a chain, I go to Chi- potle a lot. For a sit-down, I go to Amedeo's about once a week." Favorite Wolfpack memory: "For a specific sporting event, it was probably the Gator Bowl against Notre Dame. "As far as an emotional one, the Jim Valvano speech in Reynolds Coliseum. I was in the first or second row. That was top-notch and unbelievable to be there for that speech." What is something most people don't know about you? "I guess it's kind of scary or sad, but in high school I almost passed away. I had a series of seizures as a result of medications I was taking when I was a sophomore. I had a reaction to them when I was at home working in the yard with my dad. They had to rush me to the emergency room. "I was in the hospital for a week or so. I feel blessed that I am still here."
