Moments after NC State senior wide receiver Emeka Emezie (86)
grabbed what proved to be the winning 24-yard touchdown reception
with 1:06 left in a 34-30 win over North Carolina, he was greeted by
second-year freshman wideout Porter Rooks to celebrate the score.
Emezie's second touchdown of the game completed an improbable
comeback from down 30-21 with 2:12 left in what was one of the
most dramatic contests ever played in the annual rivalry showdown
that dates back to 1894.
The victory secured NC State's first unbeaten season at home since
1986, capped a 9-3 regular season for the Wolfpack and secured a
top-20 ranking going into the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday
Bowl against UCLA Dec. 28. Meanwhile preseason top-10 UNC suf-
fered another setback in its disappointing 6-6 campaign.
