FEBRUARY 2022 THE WOLVERINE 15   INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Getting To Know Men's Lacrosse Senior Nick Rowlett Michigan senior faceoff man Nick Rowlett earned first-team All-Big Ten honors during the 2021 season, after leading the Big Ten in ground balls per game and ranking sixth nationally in the category with 8.33 per outing. He checked in at No. 30 nationally in fa- ceoff win percentage (.537), and also was the lone faceoff man to be hon- ored on either All-Big Ten team. Here are some other things about Rowlett that you might not have known: Best Part About Being From Burke, Va.: "From a lacrosse standpoint, there's so much good competition that there are always good guys to practice with. Because of that, you get to know so many people, and almost every school we play against, I know at least a couple guys, which makes it more fun." Nickname: "In high school, my coach called me CoCo. I don't know exactly why. But at school here, everyone just calls me by my last name." Favorite Restaurant In Ann Arbor: "If I'm not trying to break the bank, I'll go to Frita [Batidos] for a good Cuban burger. It's unreal. If I'm trying to get a little more fancy, I'll go with Palio." Best Meal He Can Cook By Himself: "I've been doing a lot of Mexican food, so I'll do chicken burritos, chicken que- sadillas, beef." Favorite Professional Athlete: "Growing up, it was Clinton Portis, who played running back for D.C. [the Wash- ington Football Team]. Currently, I've got to go with Tom Brady. It's unbeliev- able to continue to watch him." Sport He Enjoys Playing Besides La- crosse: "Me and my roommates, and teammates from all other grades, will go to the intramural building and play pickup basketball at almost any oppor- tunity we have." Favorite TV Show: "'Money Heist' on Netflix." Favorite Movie: "'Wedding Crashers.' Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson — you can't go wrong with them." Why He Chose Michigan: "From an academic standpoint, it really doesn't get much better than this, so that was an easy choice. And athletically, I knew that Michigan lacrosse was a newer program, so I wanted to go somewhere where I would be able to make a differ- ence or an impact. This being my fourth year, I feel like I've been able to do that." What He Hopes To Do After Michi- gan: "Playing lacrosse after college would be a dream, and if that's a possi- bility, that would be something I would want to take up. That's something that my brother [Jack] does — he's been playing professional for three years [in the Premier Lacrosse League]. "I'm applying for a couple grad school programs, one being supply chain management. Working for a company like Amazon, where I could use supply chain management, would be cool. But honestly, I'd rather be in a place that I like geographically than worried about my job." Favorite Memory At Michigan: "Last year, beating Ohio State in our first Big Ten playoff win, which was rewarding because it had been a rocky season and we went into playoffs knowing we were playing Ohio State for a third time. That was awesome." Overall Experience At Michigan: "So far, I've loved my experience at Michi- gan. It's given me a great opportunity to meet a bunch of new people and learn more about myself and what I want to do in terms of studies. Additionally, I've become close with a group of guys who I know I'll be friends forever with." — Clayton Sayfie Rowlett ranked sixth nationally in ground balls per game (8.33) and 30th in faceoff percent- age (.537) en route to first-team All-Big Ten accolades in 2021.
