14 THE WOLVERINE MARCH 2022   INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS BY THE NUMBERS We all played for each other, and we played for our head coach, because everybody doubted us going into the game, nobody thought we were go- ing to win the game, nobody thought Coach [Jim] Harbaugh could get it done. He's an amazing coach. We all love him as a coach; we all love him as a person. We won that game for Coach Har- baugh, and of course we got it done for ourselves." — Former Michigan safety Brad Hawkins, discussing the motivation behind the Wolverines' 42-27 win over Ohio State in 2021 It was great to get that experience. Trying to create alignment within the organization — that's something you don't necessarily do as a posi- tion coach. You can only have eight guys in a room at any given time, now you're looking at a room of 50 guys, saying, 'How do we get this thing to come together?' Credit to the players there, too. The players at Michigan are awesome guys — I just loved coaching them — and they did everything we asked." — Former Michigan defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, reflecting on his one year at U-M 8 Michigan football players were invited to the NFL Draft Combine, which is tied with Penn State for the most of any Big Ten program. Only five teams in the country have more invitees than the Wolverines, with Georgia leading the way at 14, followed by Alabama and Oklahoma at 11, and LSU and Texas A&M at nine. Cornerback Vincent Gray, running back Hassan Haskins, defensive back DAXTON HILL, defensive tackle Christopher Hinton, defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, outside linebacker David Ojabo, linebacker Josh Ross and offensive lineman Andrew Stueber are set to represent U-M at the event that runs from March 1-7. 25+ Points in three straight games for Michigan basketball sopho- more center HUNTER DICKINSON, who accomplished the feat in a Feb. 1 win over Nebraska (25 points), a Feb. 5 loss at Purdue (26) and a Feb. 8 victory at Penn State (28). That marked the first such streak in Dickinson's career that has involved eight contests with 25 or more points. 31.5 31.5 Field goal percentage in Michi- gan basketball's 58-57 win at Penn State Feb. 8, which was the program's lowest mark since a 58-43 loss at Louisville (25.9) on Dec. 3, 2019. It was the program's worst percentage in a victory since the Wolver- ines shot 27.7 percent while beating Minnesota 49-40 on March 8, 2007. PHOTO BY LON HORWEDEL PHOTO BY LON HORWEDEL
