A Home At Notre Dame
By Tom Loy
C
hesterfield (Mo.) Central
defensive end Jonathan
Bonner wasn't planning on
making a college decision
until his senior season, but
he didn't want to pass up
the opportunity to play for
the Irish.
The 6-4, 250-pound prospect picked up an offer
from his "dream school"
June 26, and he committed
to Notre Dame later that
afternoon in a conversation with head coach Brian
Kelly.
"This was a big offer for
me," Bonner said. "It's the
school I grew up cheering
for as a kid and so did my
family. It's really been my
dream to play there, and
the offer was one that I've
always wanted."
The talented defender has
multiple ties to the Fighting
Irish football program. Bonner's uncle is former Notre
Dame running back Danny
Knott, who scored the final
touchdown in 1975 against
Georgia Tech that allowed
Bonner is rated as a three-star recruit, the No. 16 prospect in
Missouri and the No. 46 strongside defensive end in the class of the Notre Dame defense
to get back on the field
