A one-day blip? Not quite. I was surprised that MSU came back with that same unbalanced Wildcat stuff in the first half of the Spartans' loss at Notre Dame. I wonder if ND scouted the MSU spring game. I wonder if they talked about the possibility of seeing this freak alignment. Moreover, if MSU was planning to use this against ND, I was left wondering how long in advance that they knew they were going to use it against the Irish. And if they were planning to use it far ahead of time, why would they show it in the spring game? It was certainly unorthodox. It didn't work in the spring game, and didn't work against ND. Interesting O'Connor Q&A O'Connor has not been thrilled with his own personal performance this spring. He has made some plays. But his inexperience has also shone through. In speaking with O'Connor, it's clear that this is not a player who has a sense of entitlement. He knows where he stands, and he's comfortable with it. The following is a Q&A with the freshman quarterback, to give you some advance insight into what he's thinking and what he's working on, prior to seeing him in action at the Stadium on Saturday: On his role this spring: "I'm getting everything I could ask for, given the position I'm in. Andrew has the right to be where he's at and get the reps that he's getting. I'm just looking to make the best of my opportunities." But are you still gunning to try to take his job? "No one practices to be a back-up. Everyone at every position that's in the same situation I'm in feels the same way. That's everybody's goal. But above all, we're here to win football games and the coaches put the best guys in front." What do you need to work on? "Just slowing down the reads for me. The game is still a little fast. Once I get more comfortable sitting in
