The Maize and Blue were the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, but lost 76-73 to Nebraska in their first game and had a two-week wait before returning to action as the third seed in the NCAA Tourna- ment's Wichita Region. — Clayton Sayfie Baseball U-M handed No. 21 Maryland its first loss of the season with a 7-4 victory in the Keith LeClair Classic at East Carolina March 4 in Greenville, N.C. … The win gave head coach Erik Bakich the 300th of his career, and it fit- tingly came at his alma mater. Men's Gymnastics U-M registered its top score of the season with a 412.850 point total, defeating the No. 10-ranked Army Black Knights and No. 13-ranked William & Mary Tribe March 5 at the United States Military Academy … U-M swept all six events as a squad … Junior Paul Juda took home six individual events and the all-around title. Women's Gymnastics U-M won the Big Ten regular-season title with a 197.950 score to top No. 22 Ohio State (196.900), Illinois (196.375), Iowa (196.225) and Maryland (195.725) at the Big Five Meet Feb. 18 … Junior Gabby Wilson won two event titles — floor exercise and vault … In front of a sold-out Crisler Center crowd March 12, U-M defeated No. 5 Auburn (197.175) and West Virginia (196.400) behind a 197.950 mark. Men's Lacrosse Junior attacker Josh Zawada became the fastest player to score 100 career points in school history with a goal in a 23-10 win over Canisius Feb. 22, then broke the U-M record for points in a season (48) with five points in an 18-8 victory over No. 17 Delaware March 5 … He had 54 points (30 goals and 24 assists) as of March 12. Women's Lacrosse Fifth-year senior Caitlin Muir — U-M's all-time leader in career points — became just the fourth Wolverine to score 100 career goals when she netted four in an 11-9 victory over Arizona State Feb. 18. Men's Indoor Track And Field The Maize and Blue finished sixth out of 11 teams with 60 points at the Big Ten Indoor Championships Feb. 25-26 … Ju- nior Joshua Zeller became the second man in school history to win a gold medal at the Big Ten meet in the 60-meter hurdles with a career-best 7.67, while freshman Miles Brown (600-meter dash) and sophomore Dubem Amene (400-meter dash) earned silver medals, and senior Cole Johnson (800-meter dash) took home bronze … Johnson earned first-team All-America honors in the 800-meter final at the NCAA Championships March 11- 12, finishing sixth overall … With four points, the Wolverines tied for 41st overall of 92 teams. Women's Indoor Track And Field U-M posted a fourth-place finish out of 13 teams at the Big Ten Championships Feb. 25-26 … Senior Aurora Rynda ran the 600-meter dash in 1:26.50 — an all-time Big Ten best — to place first. Only two women in NCAA his- tory have run faster times in the event … Sophomore Ziyah Holman secured her second straight indoor title at 400 meters with a 52.66 clocking … Rynda claimed first-team All-America honors for the third time with a seventh-place 2:06.33 time in the 800-meter run … With two points, the Wolverines placed 47th of 90 teams at the event. Women's Softball U-M's 3-0 win over Northern Kentucky Feb. 25 marked head coach Carol Hutchins' 1,675th career victory and made her the winningest coach in college softball his- tory … U-M split with two top-15 clubs — No. 13 Duke (Feb. 25-26) and No. 10 Kentucky (March 3-4) — highlighted by an 8-0 triumph over the Wildcats behind senior pitcher Alex Storako's complete-game shutout perfor- mance that included 12 strikeouts. Men's Swimming And Diving Michigan placed third of eight squads at the Big Ten Champi- onships Feb. 23-26, registering 1,056 team points … Freshman Gal Groumi claimed a gold medal with a 1:41.54 in the 200-yard individual medley, while senior Jared Daigle nabbed gold with a 3:41.01 in the 400-yard individual medley. Women's Swimming And Diving U-M recorded 1,303 points at the Big Ten Championships Feb. 16-19, which was good for second … Senior Maggie MacNeil — who was named the Big Ten Swimmer of the Meet — won the 50-yard freestyle (21.32) and 100-yard butterfly (49.74), and was part of U-M's 200-yard freestyle relay group that also took gold … U-M qualified 10 swimmers, two divers and all five relays for the NCAA Championships March 16-19. Men's Tennis Michigan upset No. 1 TCU 4-1 March 5 in Fort Worth, Texas, marking the first time the Wolverines took down the nation's top team since rankings were recorded in 1996-97 … Junior Ondrej Styler defeated No. 16-ranked Jean Carolis Aguilar of TCU, then won at No. 1 singles (his first time at the spot) against Central Florida's Lleyton Cronje March 5. Women's Tennis Sophomore Kari Miller earned Big Ten Women's Tennis Ath- lete of the Week honors after beating Princeton's No. 24-ranked Victoria Hu and winning her doubles match alongside fresh- man Julia Fliegner … She was slotted 13th nationally in the March 9 singles rankings update. — Clayton Sayfie Maize & Blue Highlights Carol Hutchins became the winningest coach in college softball history in 2015, but was passed by Arizona's Mike Candrea, who she reclaimed the title from this year.
