APRIL 2022 15 working on nonstop for like two or three weeks. I don't have much free time to myself because when I'm not working on the project, I'm doing something related to basketball. "We have to travel all the time, and miss- ing classes is definitely hard, but I've made a couple of friends in the class who have helped keep me caught up." In the little free time he does have, She- drick enjoys hanging out with friends and teammates. "Once in a blue moon, I'll go bowling with the guys, and that's pretty fun," he said with a laugh. "This summer we went paint ball- ing, and next summer we get to go to Italy in August. I think that will be my favorite thing we do." The one thing Shedrick does make sure to do is experience the excellent food Char- lottesville has to offer. He said that Multi- verse is his favorite place to eat. "Best biscuits and best chicken in Char- lottesville," he said. Shedrick is enjoying his time at the University of Virginia. He continues to take advantage of all it has to offer in school and in basketball, the sport he wants to pursue as his future. "Basketball is plan A, but I have a really nice plan B with a good degree from McIn- tire," Shedrick said. "That's something I can figure out down the line. I want to play after school, here or overseas. I just want to play." If his first couple years on the court are any indication of the improvements he has made and the success he finds, then those future plans should be attainable. After seeing limited action in his first year on Grounds, Shedrick played in all 34 games and made 18 starts for the Cavaliers as of March 21. He averaged 6.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, while shooting an impressive 63.8 percent and blocking 65 shots (1.9 per contest). Shedrick relishes the opportunity to play basketball at a high level with the dream of one day playing professionally. In the mean- time, he is enjoying the relationships he has created with his coaches, teammates and classmates. And when he is done playing, he will be ready to turn to plan B with his degree from the McIntire School of Com- merce. Shedrick averaged 6.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 63.8 percent from the floor this season. (Photo courtesy UVA)
