KATELYN TUOHY
Women's Track And Field
Entering May, the sophomore from Stony Point, N.Y., had the nation's
top time in the 5,000-meter race at 15:14.61 and the third fastest mark in
the 1,500 at 4:12.58. The 5K time came at the Virginia Challenge in Char-
lottesville, Va., April 21-23 and broke a 15-year-old ACC record.
That's not the only conference mark that Tuohy has set. She was part
of the 4x1,500-meter team at the Penn Relays that finished second in
16:55.19, crushing the previous fastest time in the ACC by 25 seconds
while running the second-quickest time in NCAA history.
Tuohy has twice been named the ACC Track Performer of the Week dur-
ing the outdoor season.
She was a cross country All-American on NC State's national champion-
ship-winning team this past fall. During the NCAA Indoor Championships
in March in Birmingham, Ala., Tuohy finished second in both the 3,000-
and 5,000-meter races.
