THE WOLVERINE 2022 FOOTBALL PREVIEW ■ 115 [ S P E C I A L T E A M S ] PLAYER BIOS POSITION COACH Jay Harbaugh, now in his eighth season on the U-M staff, enters his first year as the safeties coach this fall and is in his third year as the special teams coordinator. Previously, he served as an assistant special teams coach from 2015-19, and coached the tight ends in 2015- 16 and 2021 sandwiched around three seasons with the running backs (2017-20). RETURNING PLAYERS TOMMY DOMAN • P/K So. • Rochester Hills, Mich. Ht.: 6-5 • Wt.: 190 • Did not see game action dur- ing the 2021 season. • Selected for the 2021 All- American Bowl following se- nior season. • MaxPreps All-American in 2020. • As a senior, named a six-star punter by Chris Sailer Kicking, which listed him as the No. 1 punter and No. 9 kicker in the land. • Kornblue Kicking tabbed him as a member of the Fab50 and a five-star prospect, and also ranked him as the nation's No. 2 punter and No. 2 kicker. • Named to The Detroit News All-State team as a sophomore and junior. He also was tabbed to The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press Dream Teams as a senior. • Pegged as a three-star prospect and the No. 2 punter nationally by the On3 Consensus. JAKE MOODY • K Gr. • Northville, Mich. Ht.: 6-1 • Wt.: 211 • Consensus All-American and Lou Groza Award winner, the first in school history. Named first-team All-Big Ten and Bak- ken-Anderson Big Ten Kicker of the Year last fall. • Suited up for all 14 games as placekicker and kick- off specialist in 2021. Led team with 125 points, the second-highest single-season total in U-M his- tory and most by a kicker. Converted on 23 of 25 field goals and a program-record 56 extra points. • 65 of his 98 kickoffs (66.3 percent) went for touch- backs. Hit a career-long 52-yard field goal in win over Washington. • Played in all six games in 2020, kicking off in every game and placekicking in two. • Netted 14 touchbacks on 29 kickoffs and went 1 of 4 on field goal attempts. • Appeared in all 13 games in 2019, handled the kickoff duties and was 6 of 9 on field goal at- tempts. Drilled a 43-yard game-winning field goal against Army that season. • Handled the kickoff duties in all 13 games for Michigan in 2018, plus served as the placekicker in three games. Went 10 of 11 on field goals, highlighted by going 6 of 6 on field goals and 1 of 1 on extra points against Indiana in his debut, setting single-game kicking records at Michigan with his 19 points scored and 6 made field goals. Booted 45 punts for a 46.3-yard clip, the second-best season average in U-M history. Had 21 forced fair catches, 17 attempts inside the 20-yard line and 12 kicks of 50 yards or longer. • Honorable mention All-Big Ten selection and a Ray Guy Award semifinalist. • Punted in five games in 2020, taking over as the starter beginning in week two. Had 23 punts with a long of 66 yards and a 45.3-yard average that ranked 10th nationally. • In 2019, appeared in two games as a backup, punting 4 times for an average of 42.8 yards per attempt. • Missed all of the 2018 season after undergoing back surgery in the fall. • Played in 10 games during his freshman season and was named All-Big Ten honorable mention by the coaches.
