TRACKING THE PACK SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2022 ■ 19 NC State head coach Kevin Keatts made a late addition to his 2022-23 roster when forward Mady Traoré announced his commitment July 29. The 6-11, 195-pounder is a native of France and previously reported offers from the likes of Kansas, Auburn, Oregon and others. On3 recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw has seen Traoré in action and offered his scouting report on the Wolfpack pickup. "Mady Traoré is a long, 6-10, 6-11 for- ward who moves really well for a guy his size," Shaw told The Wolfpacker. "There is still a raw nature to his game, and the game will have to slow down for him, but he runs very well and is a good quick- twitch athlete. "Watching him play, you see the skill set. He has smooth shooting form and can put the ball on the floor for a couple of dribbles in the open court. He will need to add weight and continue im- proving, but his physical profile makes him a solid gamble as a late addition." The On3 Consensus ranks Traoré the No. 242 overall prospect in the 2022 class and the No. 48 power forward. He will be the second freshman on the NC State roster, joining guard L.J. Thomas, a na- tive of Plant City, Fla., whose most re- cent high school was Bull City Prep near Durham, N.C. Traoré is expected to officially join the program at the start of fall semes- ter classes. Because he had not enrolled, Traoré was not part of the team's trip to the Bahamas in August for a two-game exhibition. The women's basketball roster lost a key player when Jada Boyd did not re- turn to school for the fall semester. The senior had been expected to be a starter after being arguably the Wolfpack's best bench player over the past two years. No specific reason was given for her decision, but Boyd is not in the transfer portal. "Jada is a great player with valuable ACC and big-game experience that will be missed," NC State head coach Wes Moore said in a statement to the News & Observer. "We appreciate all she has done for our program and wish her noth- ing but the best." Boyd was the ACC Co-Sixth Player of the Year in 2021 when she averaged 11.5 points and 5.9 rebounds. Like ev- eryone else on the roster, Boyd's num- bers slipped a little to 7.6 points and 4.4 boards a contest this past season on a loaded team, but her talent was obvious. She scored 14 points in 16 minutes in the double-overtime loss to Connecticut in the Elite Eight. — Matt Carter Men's And Women's Basketball Rosters Have Late Changes Head coach Kevin Keatts gained a late addition to the Wolfpack men's basketball roster with 6-foot-11 freshman Mady Traoré, a native of France.
