SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2022 ■ 23 guys will be training all at once. We will be able to knock it out and still have time to do recovery stuff," Burnette said. "We're excited about what we have." The new platforms also have do-it-all capabilities. "They can stay at the platform and have everything right there in one location to allow them to train," Burnette explained. "We also have more dumbbells." Under the previous layout, there was an indoor track along the wall where the windows face the field of Carter-Finley Stadium. At the time that was put in, Burnette noted, NC State didn't have an indoor football facility. After the Close-King Indoor Practice Facility opened in 2015, there was no lon- ger a pressing need for the track in the Murphy Center. Removing that from the weight room allowed Burnette to expand his platforms and have them run the length of the room. For Burnette, the best part of the new platforms is that players can do every- thing from presses, jump training, pull- ups, lat pulldowns and more in just one location. "All that at one platform," Burnette noted. "Guys don't have to leave. I don't have to worry about guys getting lost, which is pretty cool for me and my strength coaches." In addition to the new platforms, new benches and dumbbells were brought into the room, plus new machines for ham- string and glute training. Other changes have been made to the weight room, and there are still more to come. The green turf where mat drills were done adjacent to the weights is now black with a Tuffy logo prominently fea- tured. The nutrition bar next to the mat has been extended the length of the room after a closet was removed. The cardio area was also moved from the weight room to the back of the turf room. New cardio equipment will be or- dered, but Burnette estimated that the vast majority of the changes have been successfully made. "The little bit of feedback we've had since it has been open has been tremen- dous," Correll noted. Burnette can back up those sentiments. "This has been amazing," he said. "The guys love the weight room, and I love it as well." ■ NC State has added new benches and dumbbells to its weight room, along with machines for hamstring and glute training. The total cost of the project is $2.1 million. PHOTOS BY MATT CARTER
