Team in a pair of wins over Costa Rica.
Nerves were there for Joseph when
she donned the U.S. uniform for the first
time, but her national coaches conveyed
simple advice.
"They prepared us," Joseph remem-
bered. "They were like, 'Don't be too
nervous, because you play the game all
the time, and it's nothing new. You're
just wearing the U.S. crest. Just play like
you normally do.'"
Receiving the news that she had been
called into camp evoked several emo-
tions.
"I was stoked, honestly," she said. "I
think I was honestly shocked."
Joseph noted that working with the
national team was a "different expe-
rience for me." One that also left her
longing for more down the road.
"That's something I do want to do
after college," Joseph confessed. "That's
one of my goals — playing on the na-
tional team. I felt that was a really good
experience for myself, to basically know
and I guess certify that I really want to
do that afterwards." ■
Coming off a junior campaign in which
she led the Wolfpack with 9 goals and 20
points, Joseph received preseason All-ACC
honors this year.
