Items: After opening with the pass to Styles, the Notre Dame drive stalled in the red zone on three straight rushing attempts … Notre Dame safety Brandon Joseph laid a heavy hit on Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who was a limited participant for the rest of the game … Senior cornerback Cam Hart had a pass interference penalty two plays before getting beat on Ohio State's first touchdown … Freshman corner- back Jaden Mickey made his Notre Dame debut. SECOND QUARTER NOTRE DAME 10, OHIO STATE 7 Top Moment: Estime reached over the goal line on a fullback dive to score his first career touchdown. It gave Notre Dame the lead back. Feature Performer: Buchner had his best drive of the game in the sec- ond quarter. He moved the chains with his arm twice on third down, includ- ing a short pass to junior tight end Mi- chael Mayer the play before Estime's touchdown. Stats: Both teams gained 94 yards and had four first downs. Jon Sot's 2 punts for Notre Dame averaged 50.5 yards. Items: Former walk-on and current graduate student Matt Salerno made a concentration catch in which he was laying on his back when he finally se- cured the ball with a firm outstretched grip … Ohio State punted from the Notre Dame 40-yard line … Buchner did enough to move Notre Dame out of the shadow of its own end zone so the Irish could comfortably punt it back to the Buckeyes … An 11-play, 55-yard Ohio State drive resulted in a missed 39-yard field goal in the final minute of the quarter. THIRD QUARTER OHIO STATE 14, NOTRE DAME 10 Top Moment: On the final play of the quarter, Buchner led graduate stu- dent wide receiver Braden Lenzy down the right sideline on a go route. Lenzy laid out and made the 32-yard catch. Feature Performer: Graduate stu- dent linebacker Bo Bauer was carted off the field, but he returned and made a tackle on his first series back. Stats: Ohio State gained 125 yards to Notre Dame's 60. Ohio State generated 7 first downs to Notre Dame's 4. Items: Ohio State went three-and- out to start the quarter … Notre Dame punted from the Ohio State 36-yard line on its first possession of the second half … The teams traded punts once more thereafter … Ohio State regained the lead after a 10-play, 70-yard drive was capped by a 24-yard strike from Stroud to wide receiver Xavier Johnson … Notre Dame immediately responded with the deep ball to Lenzy. FOURTH QUARTER OHIO STATE 21, NOTRE DAME 10 Top Moment: A two-yard Miyan Williams touchdown effectively put the game away with 4:51 remaining. Feature Performer: Williams gained 49 of his 84 yards in the fourth quarter. He was a workhorse for the home team. Stats: Ohio State gained 121 yards to Notre Dame's 12. The Buckeyes had 8 first downs to Notre Dame's 1. The Irish only attempted 2 passes despite trailing. They only had two possessions includ- ing a carryover from the third quarter.
