www.BLUEANDGOLD.com SEPT. 10, 2022 51 IRISH IN THE PROS cut day, later signed with the New York Giants. Other cut-down casualties from the 2022 Notre Dame draft class included wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr., with the Jacksonville Jaguars, as well as defen- sive lineman Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa and defensive back Matthias Farley with the Las Vegas Raiders. All three of these players, though, joined the practice squads on the teams they were cut by. A few notable veterans also failed to make a 53-man roster. Defensive lineman Daelin Hayes (Ravens), wide receiver Chris Finke (Bears), linebacker Micah Drew-Treadway (Bears), tight end Alizé Mack (Packers) and running back Dexter Williams (Packers) were all also let go. BEST OF THE BEST ESPN released its annual top-100 rankings for NFL players, and two for- mer Notre Dame players made the list: Indianapolis Colts offensive guard Quenton Nelson (No. 21) and Dallas Cowboys guard Zack Martin (No. 41). Both former first-round draft picks have become mainstays on this rank- ings list. Injuries slowed Nelson some last sea- son, but he still remains one of only two NFL offensive linemen (Joel Bitonio) to make the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons. And, considered by many as one of the best guards in NFL history, Martin is one of only two offensive linemen (Joe Thomas) in the league to be named to five All-Pro teams in their first eight seasons. ✦ ACCOMMODATIONS Call 877-630-8768 to advertise in Blue & Gold Illustrated! 34 IRISH PLAYERS ON OPENING-DAY NFL ROSTERS As of Sept. 2 Name (Years At Notre Dame) NFL Season Pos.
