TRACKING THE PACK NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2022 ■ 17 Breon Pass Sophomore guard Breon Pass could be in line for an increased role this season for the Wolfpack men's basketball team. The former standout from Reidsville (N.C.) High appeared in 25 games as a rookie, averaging 8.9 minutes per contest and contributing 2.2 points per game while dishing out 16 assists. He will look to fill the void created by the losses of guard Dereon Seabron to the NBA and both Cam Hayes and Thomas Allen to the transfer portal. "I think Breon Pass showed just a little bit of what he can do last year, but I think you'll see more because he'll have more opportunities," head coach Kevin Keatts noted. "You'll see him at times with Terquavion [Smith] and at times with Jarkel [Joiner] on the floor." The 6-0, 175-pounder, who turned down ACC offers to play receiver in football, was a local legend at the prep level and was named the 2021 North Carolina High School Athletic Association Male Athlete of the Year. Here are a few things you may not have known about Pass. Favorite Movie: "'Friday,' the first one." Last Show Binged Watch: "'Stranger Things.' I'm a big fan of that." What Are You Majoring In: "Sports Management." Favorite Class: "English 101. I love to write." Athlete(s) You Looked Up To: "Ja Morant and Chris Paul." Favorite Memory In Sport: "It would have to be winning back-to-back state championships in football in high school." Favorite Memory In Basketball: "My 50-point game my junior year. We played Salisbury in Greensboro, North Carolina, in a holiday tournament." Sport If Not Basketball: "Football. I do miss it, but I'm here now." Favorite Restaurant: "Back in Reidsville, we have a restaurant called Pete's Burgers. It's a homestyle fast food restaurant. They have some good burgers." Favorite On-Campus Hangout Spot: "Carmichael. I'm there a lot." One Word To Describe Head Coach Kevin Keatts: "Outstanding." GETTING TO KNOW Pass will be called upon to help solidify the backcourt this season following the losses of Dereon Seabron, Cam Hayes and Thomas Allen.
